Annual West Chester University Conference and Scholarship award (began 2006). A student who’s overcome challenges receives an annual book scholarship in support of their work in social help professions (psychology, social work, criminal justice). Each year through the support of West Chester University, the Asia Adams Grant funds guest lectures and training. Most recently the grant helped underwrite the cost of Dr. Sandra Blooms, work with social worker staff and students, for Trauma Informed training. We’ve also partnered with WCU as frequent guest lecturer conducting senior psychology seminars. Over the years, since Asia’s death some of their professors have served on our Board of Directors, while they always support our education and outreach efforts at the Chester County Campus.
Youth Leadership Team (YLT) Research project (began 2010). Since then, we continue to work with a core group of youth and are informed by youth through our ongoing workshops, summer and after school programming. We train these young leaders with the skills to research, objective analysis of the times, how to articulate and advocate for identified social needs and justice, then have them work with us to deliver important messaging.
